About Us

Here is just a little info to let you get to know us better...

History

Here is little potted history of our pub and the local area... if you have a spare minute or two and maybe a cup of tea (or is that a G&T), we think it's well worth read.

If you'd like to put a name to a face, allow us to introduce you to the crew...

Front of house

Dale

Manager

Dale is a Yorkshire lad at heart but moved down to the Midlands to start his career in pubs, and hasn't looked back! He is an avid Middlesbrough supporter and when they aren't playing, Dale enjoys skiing and Geocaching (ask him if you're unsure of what this is, we were!). If you want to impress him, he has a keen liking for French and Italian wines.

Lloyd

Assistant Manager

Meet Lloyd, on his days off you will find him playing badminton and tennis. He is partial to a cider but enjoys a good Tarquins blackberry with a ginger ale. Pop down and meet him and I’m sure he will share some of his favourite dad jokes

Emily

Assistant Manager

Introducing Emily, the team’s creative spirit! When she's not creating crew notice boards or organising events, she's focused on ensuring both customers and crew are happy.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys crafting, gardening, and spending quality time with her partner, Tom—often over a steak and a large glass of Malbec!

Carlie

Supervisor

My name is Carlie and I am a supervisor at the Roe Deer. Currently I am studying Criminology and Sociology at University of Derby and wish to do my part in making the world a safer place! When I’m not working I am a loving mother to my little baby Ralphy, a miniature dachshund! When I’m not studying or making things go smoothly on shift, I love spending time in nature with my pup, family, and two beautiful twin nephews!

Abbie

Bar/Waiting

My name is Abbie and I’m currently studying level 3 sport at distinction* level! I am very passionate about my sports as I play/coach a lot of netball in my spare time. I'm also very passionate about my vinyls and have quite the collection, my favourite one is Sleeptoken’s Take me back to Eden!

Kitchen

Jack

Head Chef

Jack is our very own "Jack in the Box". As soon as the sun rises he springs into life, literally. He is a fun loving, hardworking, crazy (in a good way), adventurous chap who loves nothing more than to keep everyone entertained. Jack hasn't given up on his main dream, which is to perform on stage in the West End. In his spare time he loves a good gym session, and secretly enjoys baking fairy cakes, which by the way, taste fabulous!

Lauren

Senior Chef de Partie

Snapped up before she had even left college, Lauren began her B&P career as an apprentice and quickly worked her way up the ranks, conquering each section as she goes. A BIG music lover, Lauren (or Lozza to us!) spends most of her shifts fighting over the aux cable so she doesn't have to listen to that other rubbish - her words Chef, honest!

Maintenance

Rob

Gardener/Maintenance Person

Rob has previously worked for 30 years as a school caretaker and now shares his time between the Roe Deer and one of our sister pubs the Oakley Arms. He is always on hand to lend a hand and when not working at the pub can be found in his own back garden nursery make hanging baskets, cultivating plants or playing with wood.

Rob is a keen cyclist who also enjoys walking and the occasional pint of real ale or two.

His favourite quote and mantra is “Gardening is medicine that doesn't need a prescription and has no limits with dosage”.
